Understanding Sexual Violence Trauma …

I dedicate Live Live Revolution to the women I have known and supported who have died due to the pain of sexual violence trauma in their lives. To those who are still earthside, struggling and seeking for help in their healing and symptom management in their life - who continue seek justice.

That may have sounded a bit heavy, though this is the deep seriousness I feel on this subject and at the same time, there are many opportunities to find humour and gold in each of the individuals affected by sexual abuse that I have had the fortune to befriend and lots of laughter at oneself. I believe there can be balance between taking serious note of the situation, creativity and humour to keep us going. What is your belief?

I do have lived experience of sexual violence and have spent over two decades going through various types of therapy, doing everything I could to stop the pain or manage it. Part of my breakthrough was attending a group and being validated that my life was now separated into ‘Life’ before and ‘Life’ after, hence Live Live Revolution was born.

My goal was to design and run groups for those affected by sexual assault and to really give participants and society a true, raw look at the effects of sexual violence trauma. I realised that art was the way to do this and Telling Story run in 2016 was the pinnacle of a dream come true in terms of this. I am very connected to being able to share that with everyone in the hopes of supporting more suffers of trauma and enabling more understanding and de-stigmatising of sexual abuse to then influence jurors into bringing forth justice to perpetrators.

I am very heartened to see the emergence and embracing of trauma physically affecting the brain, which has confirmed a lot of my pre-qualification suspicions.

Credentials

I am a qualified Arts Psychotherapist Grad Dip. I have many years experience in supporting people in employed roles and non paid roles. Over 10 years of Disability Support Work, supporting children & adults, in all aspects. 20 years working in law. And I created and let go of an in-home pet care business, Animal Angels and a Montessori Family Day Care. I have been involved in activism against sexual violence for over a decade and worked with prominent sexual assault services in Brisbane and Logan. I was invited by Mental Health Conference and ANZACATA to speak at their symposiums this year on the topic of sexual violence and healing modalities and processes for the affects of it.

On these pages I will share my perspectives, I will provide information and supportive tools for individuals seeking healing for their sexual violence trauma and services who support them - as well as anyone curious or seeking knowledge. There is opportunity for supporters interaction and all aspects of sexual violence culture will be looked at.

I have a one on one arts therapy practice, and I am interested in all aspects of human life and their support requirements.

One of my favourite quotes is “Heal the Humans, Heal the Earth” and I really believe in that.
