Open Letter & Petition to have Family Court Deputy Chief Justice J McClelland removed as Head of the
National Anti Corruption Commission
His appointment is due to begin in January 2027, his role having been announced on 19 October 2026 by Australias’ Attorney General Michelle Rowland, who is also the ultimate head of the Family Court of Australia, of which J McClelland is currently the Deputy Chief Justice of.
On grounds not limited to conflict of interest, history of incapable decision making, inability and lack of motivation to fix systemic harmful responses to women and children reporting violence in the Family Court of which he is currently Deputy; upholding Family Court of Australia responses to public reporting of harmful responses to women and children that position women and children and their allies as non-credible and unreliable narrators, essentially calling them liars and refusing to have the Court take responsibility for its own actions.
The Australian public has a right to have complete trust in the head of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, particularly where there has been significant issue with conflicts of interest in the past and where currently, there is no avenue for Judges of the Family Court to be independently held responsible for their decisions.

1000 Voices Campaign launching November 2026
Have your voice heard on the systemic issue of the Family Court of Australias’ harmful responses to women and children reporting sexual and family violence.
This is an urgent issue that has not been specifically inquired into in Australia, leaving a dangerous gap in data, and a gap between State and Federal responses, which leaves women and children in particular, being left living in dangerous and unjust situations, with research showing this lack of appropriate systems responses contributing to suicide.
The collection of this data seeks to show this and form a basis for an inquiry into the Family Court responses, accountability and law reform in line with Australia's National Plan to eradicate violence against women and children.
